- We are located in Normandy, the reknown horse-breeding region, 20 kms from Alençon. Feuillard Stud is easily accessed by car or by train (Station: Gare de Sées, 18kms by taxi)
Our objectives
Provide hands-on experience to compliment the theoretical training of BEPA, CAPA, BAC Professionel, and BTA degrees.
Provide the opportunity to discover and integrate into our environment
Master the professional skills required for this domain.
Train future managers ready to take responsibilities for general operations, the training centers, breeding, or personnel.
Train personnel in caretaking and preparation of horses who will be qualified to work in equestrian centers and competition stables.
Competencies
This hands-on internship at Feuillard Stud allows participants to acquire skills in animal breeding especially horses or to observe techniques used in reproduction, breaking, and schooling of horses:
- Physiology of the genitalia
- Hygiene and prevention of venereal diseases
- Nutrition
- Genetics
- Breeding and collection regulations
- Manipulation of stallions, broodmares, foals, and young horses
- Quality control for semen
- Preparation of fresh, chilled, of frozen semen doses
- Artificial insemination
- Embryo transfer
- Foaling
- Breaking for sport and race horses (gallopers)
- Schooling young horses
- Training, horse gymnastics for dressage, show jumping, eventing
- Preparation for auctions
Supervision
Training periods are run under the supervision of Benoit and Valérie Burban, BEES 2 (Instructeur d’Equitation Diplômée d’État), inseminator and head of the horse reproduction center.
Conditions
A - Validating your internship
The law n. 2006-296, March 31, 2006 for equal opportunities, was an in-depth reform of the statute for interns. Henceforth, internships are only authorized under the condition of a tripartite agreement between the intern, business, and educational institution.
The stage may have different objectives: an observation internship allows the beginner to discover a business, whereas the practical internship allows the intern to acquire hands-on experience for his competencies.
B - Housing
On our grounds, we offer a studio with 2 two rooms (1 room: 1 bed + 1 room: 4 beds), 1 bathroom, 1 furnished kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, microwave, electric plaques and dishes.
Not provided: pillow cover and fitting sheet for a 90cm bed, and a blanket.

- pour le logement : 40 € par semaine.
Le réglement (40 € x Nbre de semaines à l'ordre du Haras du Feuillard) non-remboursable + photo sont à adresser au HARAS DU FEUILLARD - 61360 VIDAI en même temps que les conventions scolaires pour signature.
Afin de réserver le logement, il est impératif que nous adresser le réglement 1 mois avant la période de stage. A défaut, vous êtes susceptible de ne pas avoir de place dans le logement.
Pour votre sécurité, nous interdisons le port de tennis et chaussures de ville qui sont inadaptés lorsque l'on travaille autour de jeunes chevaux mais vous conseillons le port de chaussures de sécurité, boots et bottes d'équitation.
L'établissement est non-fumeur.
Il est donc strictement interdit de fumer à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur des installations.
Sans le dossier complet, la demande de stage sera refusée. Il est demandé aux stagiaires de respecter les horaires de travail de l'entreprise. A ce titre, les stagiaires doivent-être présents du lundi 08H00 au samedi midi 12H30. Aucune dérogation possible.

Not provided, but the intern is provided with a kitchen for the preparation of meals. A grocery store can be found 6km from our grounds.
